About

Stonewall Community Foundation

The Dad Fund engages gay men who are fathers to collectively raise money for Stonewall Community Foundation's work with LGBTQ youth. Stonewall has incubated, developed, and funded dozens of organizations that benefit our community, including many that work with LGBTQ youth. Stonewall's expertise ensures that the money we raise is directed to the best and most effective organizations. In all cases the Dad Fund seeks to help youth develop their own capacity to surmount challenges and thrive in the world.

Community

The Dad Fund is a venue for dads to collectively serve as a positive force in the gay community, the City, and the world. More and more gay men are having children and becoming dads, and we want to help those dads act together for greater impact. If our fellow gays and lesbians are our brothers and sisters, then LGBTQ youth are our children. We're dads, and together we can let those kids know that we care. As dads we nurture, protect, lift up, mentor, inspire, teach, provide for, and serve as role models. We do this for our own kids every day, and through the Dad Fund we do it for our community's kids.

Stereotypes

The Dad Fund exists in part to counter negative images of gay men in American society. Let's face it – the stereotype of gay men interacting with gay youth is not a positive one. We know that gay dads are strong, supportive, and protective. Dads mentor, guide, and encourage. Gay dads do all of that and more, and we need to let everyone know.
